SEOUL : South Korea will likely post a bigger trade deficit in June than in May as exports slowed largely on temporary factors such as a strike by truck drivers and fewer working days, a vice finance minister said on Friday.

Vice Minister Bang Ki-sun made the remarks at a scheduled meeting of economy-related vice ministers without disclosing an expected value of the deficit, according to a ministry statement.

In May, South Korea posted a trade deficit of $1.71 billion.
