TOKYO: Japan’s jobless rate rose to 2.6 per cent in May, while the availability of jobs slightly increased, government data showed on Friday.
The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was higher than the 2.5 per cent reported for April, which was also the median forecast for May in a Reuters poll of economists.
The jobs-to-applicants ratio was 1.24 in May, labour ministry data showed, in line with a Reuters poll forecast and rising 0.01 point from the previous month.
